Adonai, Mah Adam (Oh God, What Is Man) (1997)
Solo medium voice/SATB/ keyboard. In 2008, Transcontinental celebrated the work of Simon Sargon and named him its Composer of the Year, publishing this title and several others. This flowing, somber piece set to the contemplative words of Psalms 90 and 144 is an emotionally laden addition to a Yom Kippur Yizkor or memorial service. It makes just as powerful an impression in a concert setting.

Ha-Melech Ha-yosheiv (The King Who Dwells on High)
Cantor soloist/SATB/keyboard. Commissioned by the American Conference of Cantors for Mishkan HaNefesh: The 2015 Machzor for the Days of Awe, published by the Union of Reform Judaism. A very powerful and dramatic setting of one of the most majestic prayers of the High Holiday liturgy: "The King Who dwells on high sits on an elevated throne. He dwells forever and His name is supreme and holy." For best effect, the piece demands a full-voiced chorus.
