The Narrow Bridge (1999)
Viola/piano. Inspired by Rabbi Nachman of Bratislava's words: "The world is a narrow bridge, and the main thing is not to be afraid." The four movements of the piece can be understood as representing four approaches to dealing with the fears which threaten our contentment and enjoyment of life. Throughout the piece, the music reflects Rabbi Nachman's now-vanished world of Eastern-European Jewry. It may also be heard as a purely abstract instrumental composition which exploits the warm and intense sound of the viola for expressive and evocative purposes.

Our price: $20.00

The Weeping Shofar (1998)
Horn/piano. Using the horn to evoke the calls of the shofar (ram's horn), Sargon's piece mourns the destruction of the Holocaust, utilizing experimental horn techniques to simulate the cries and sobs of the doomed. The Horn Call proclaims: "The composition conveys such a powerful message that the listeners should be granted at least a few minutes afterward to recover."

The World of Anatevka (2005)
The five movements of At Grandmother's Knee- Yiddish folk songs which capture the sorrow, joy, and richness of now-vanished Eastern European Jewry- arranged for wind ensemble.
